Where the numbers come from

Funeral home costs are regional averages from the National Funeral Directors Association General Price List Survey. Cemetery costs, meaning the plot, opening and closing, the vault and the headstone, are typical US mid-points from public cemetery pricing, shown separately because funeral homes do not bill them and most published averages leave them out.

These are estimates, not quotes. Every funeral home and cemetery sets its own prices, and federal law entitles you to an itemised price list from any of them.

How we are paid

The calculator is free and does not ask for your email. If you decide to buy a policy through us, the insurance carrier pays a commission. You pay the same premium either way, buying through an agent does not cost more than going direct.
