Ring three of them. Prices for exactly the same service differ more between funeral homes in one town than they do between states, often by several thousand dollars. The FTC Funeral Rule requires every funeral home to quote you prices over the telephone, and you do not have to give your name to ask. What the list is built from
16,368 funeral homes with coordinates, out of 19,805 trading homes we hold across the country, and 12,404 of those carry prices. Listings come from state licensing board rosters, the NFDA member directory, Funeral Consumers Alliance price surveys, the Green Burial Council, the Parting directory and OpenStreetMap. Every home's own page names the sources for that listing and links them.
Distances are straight line rather than driving distance, measured from the centre of your ZIP code unless you gave a full address or shared your location. For choosing which funeral homes to ring, that is the right resolution, and it means nobody has to type their street address into a website in the worst week of their life.
Why there are no star ratings here
We would show them if we could, and the reason we cannot is worth stating plainly rather than leaving as a gap. Google's Maps Platform terms permit coordinates from its Places service to be stored for thirty days and nothing else, so ratings and review counts may not be kept at all. They also forbid showing that content alongside a map that is not Google's. Sorting a list by rating requires holding the values, which is the one thing those terms rule out, so a rating column here would be either broken or against the rules. What we show instead is the thing nobody else will show you, which is the price and the date it was published.
What a funeral costs once the cemetery has billed
The prices in this list are funeral home charges. A traditional burial with a viewing averages $8,300 at the funeral home, and the cemetery then bills separately for the plot, opening and closing the grave, the vault and the headstone, which takes the real total to about $15,395. How do I find a funeral home near me?
Enter your ZIP code above. The list returns every funeral home we hold within your chosen radius, sorted closest first, with the direct cremation price where a source has published one, the phone number, and the state licence. Widen the radius to 50 or 100 miles in a rural area, because funeral homes travel further than most people expect.
Is this free, and do funeral homes pay to be listed?
It is free and no funeral home pays anything. There is no paid placement, no sponsored row and no charge to a home for being listed, corrected or removed. Results are ordered by distance from the point you entered and by nothing else. If that ever changes it will be said on this page before it changes anywhere else.
Why do some funeral homes show no price?
Because we have not been given their figures, not because they are expensive. About two in three of the homes here carry a price, drawn from Funeral Consumers Alliance surveys, published general price lists and directory sources. A home showing "Ask" is simply one we hold no figure for. Under the FTC Funeral Rule it must quote you over the telephone if you ask, and you do not have to give your name.
How current are these prices?
They vary, and every one of them is shown with its age. Where the source published a date we print the date, and some of those are more than a decade old. Where the source publishes no date we say the figure was recorded by us in September 2026 rather than implying it is current. Treat everything here as the starting point for a phone call.
Do I have to give my address?
No. A ZIP code is enough and is what the box expects. You can also type a city, use your browser's location, or enter a full street address if you want the distances measured precisely. Nothing you type is stored, and there is no signup, no account and no email required to use any of this.
Can I filter by cremation price?
Yes. Open Filters and you can cap the direct cremation figure at $1,500, $2,500 or $4,000, restrict the list to homes we hold a price for, require a specific service such as immediate burial or a graveside service, or show only Green Burial Council certified providers. Price filters can only match homes we actually hold a price for, so turning one on will hide homes that may well be cheaper.
