Compensation

Raphael Hertz is a licensed insurance agent and is paid a commission by the insurance carrier when a policy is placed. You do not pay more because you bought through an agent. Premiums for a given policy are filed with the state and are the same whether you buy direct or through us.

Commission rates differ between carriers. That is a real conflict of interest in this industry, and the honest answer to it is that we show you the carrier whose underwriting actually fits your health, because a policy that gets declined pays nobody.

We are not an insurance company

Burial Estimator is not an insurer and does not underwrite, issue or pay claims. Policies are issued by the carrier, and the carrier decides whether to approve an application. Any premium discussed before an application is submitted is an illustration rather than an offer.

Where we can write business

The agency is licensed to write in all 50 states. Raphael Hertz personally holds active life licences in 20 of them, and where he does not, another appointed producer writes the case. If you are outside them we will say so. See the full record on the licences page.

The estimates

Cost figures are averages drawn from published industry surveys and public cemetery pricing. They are estimates, not quotes, and no funeral home or cemetery is bound by them. Method is described in full under editorial standards.

Not advice

Nothing here is legal, tax or financial advice. Whether a burial insurance policy suits you depends on your health, your age and what else you have in place, which is the part worth a phone call rather than a web page.

Privacy

The calculator runs entirely in your browser, and we do not ask for your email to show you the result. If you ask us to email you the estimate, or leave an email on the quote form, we use it for that, for a few short follow-ups about it, and for a note about once a month on how funeral prices are moving. Every one of those emails carries a link that stops the rest, and replying and saying so does the same. Addresses are never sold or passed to any other agent or lead buyer. If you call us, we keep only what is needed to help you and to meet the record keeping rules that apply to licensed agents.
