Lincoln Heritage burial insurance
Lincoln Heritage is one of the most advertised final expense brands in the country, and it sells its policy alongside a funeral planning service called Funeral Advantage.
Rating read from AM Best on 2 September 2026. AM Best calls A excellent: a strong ability to meet obligations to policyholders. How we check ratings.
The verdict
A real A rated carrier with a genuine service attached, and among the most expensive options per dollar of coverage. If the funeral planning support matters to you, it is a defensible choice. If you are buying the death benefit, you can usually buy more of it elsewhere for the same premium.
We do not represent Lincoln Heritage
This is an editorial review. We hold no appointment here and earn nothing if you buy one, which is exactly why we can be straight about it. The carriers we can actually write are listed here.
What is good and what is not
In its favour
- A rated, affirmed August 2026
- The Funeral Advantage service is real and some families value it
- Very wide issue ages
- Accepts a range of health histories
Against it
- Typically higher premium per dollar of coverage than the competitive carriers
- Sold almost entirely through captive agents, so no comparison at the point of sale
- The bundled service is often the reason given for the higher price
How it treats your health
Simplified issue, with tiers, and a broader appetite than the strictest carriers.
What it actually sells
Simplified issue whole life bundled with the Funeral Advantage programme.
The waiting period
The top tier pays from day one. Lower tiers carry the usual graded structure.
This is the single most misunderstood thing in this market, and it is where most people get sold the wrong policy. Our full explanation is in burial insurance with no waiting period.
What moves the price
Age, sex, tobacco, face amount, state and tier.
Why there is no price on this page
We hold no rate tables, so any premium printed here would be invented. On a licensed site that is a compliance problem rather than a helpful touch. The honest number comes from running your age, state, health answers and coverage amount against the 25+ companies the agency can write, which takes a few minutes.
See what Lincoln Heritage would actually cost you
Six questions, about a minute. We run them across every company we can write, including this one where possible, and come back with real prices. A typical burial runs $15,395 once the cemetery is included, so that is the number worth covering.
